The Photographer Behind the Stories

Hi, I am Javier Cano
Hey there, it's Javi here! My passion for photography started back in high school in my Yearbook class and I got encouraged to do it by my Audio/Video teacher too.
…I am a photographer that resides in Alamo, Texas. I never thought that this hobby will once become something that I plan to do as a career. During my middle school years, we always got asked what field of study or career we wanted to go after, and my response was to become a veterinarian. We always had dogs in my house, but unfortunately, they passed away due to parvo disease. As high school started, I instead joined an Audio/Video Tech. class, yeah…exactly… not a science class or something that was related with animals. It’s funny the change of my interests and this happened after a middle school teacher telling me what the real thing is about being a veterinarian. Although I still love dogs.
In high school, we had to have an elective credit, that’s where I met this wonderful teacher Mr. Jesse Garcia, which for four years he teached me all about moving from auto to manual. Since he was my A/V Tech. teacher he also teached about having the correct gear, color correcting, video shots and drone usage. To be honest with you, once we got to topic of postproduction and editing video, I DISLIKED that. I felt that it was to much work putting together clips and lip syncing, and that is why I only focus in Photography. In addition to that class, I was put into a Yearbook Class, which I enrolled for two consecutive years, where we had to choose a club or sport to photograph and edit one page of the yearbook. Since then friends and family liked the photos that I was posting on my Facebook and I became their ‘personal photographer’.
For a while I put down my camera and decided not to promote myself as a photographer, as I thought this was not for me. But thanks to Almighty God, the year of 2026 I had the opportunity to finish my Marketing Certificate and did an internship with my college marketing department, as a photographer. This Internship reignited my love to photography. Here I worked along with South Texas College, Chief Photographer, Ben Briones. He teached me about studio/outdoor lighting, posing, and organizing files. Now, I look forward on this being a fresh start to what I once stopped doing, so I would like to encourage you to book now with Javi’s Photography.
